Spring Theme Art & Craft - September - November 2025

Community in Bloom Program

Community in Bloom is a 10-week creative program designed to inspire artistic expression, celebrate Indigenous culture, and strengthen community connections. Supported by the Hobsons Bay City Council through the Make It Happen Grant 2025, this series brought residents together to learn traditional and contemporary art techniques—from native flower painting and boomerang art to weaving, rock painting, and creating a collaborative Kindness Tree mural.

Each workshop offered hands-on activities guided by skilled facilitators, including Indigenous educators who shared cultural knowledge, stories and symbolism. Participants enjoyed a welcoming space to develop new skills, express themselves through art, meet new people, and build a sense of belonging.

The program highlights the power of creativity to connect people from diverse backgrounds and continues to inspire future arts initiatives at Walker Close Community Centre.
